The Montessori Method
This child-centered approach helps build self-esteem, a sense of order, independence and a love for learning.
The Montessori method allows children to learn the way they learn best, by doing things for themselves. During independent activities children are encouraged to choose work that appeals to their interests. The teacher will also introduce new work to the children according to their abilities and stage of development.
The Montessori materials are beautifully made and often self-correcting thus giving children many opportunities for success and much pleasure, as they work at their own pace.
There are 4 basic areas:-

- Practical Life is designed especially for young children and teaches them how to care for themselves and their environment.

- The Sensorial area, which encourages children to use and develop their senses to discover the world. It enables them to distinguish different sounds, shapes, colours, smells, weights, temperatures, textures, etc.

- The Language and Mathematical apparatus provide opportunities for the children to develop far beyond their years in reading, writing and adding, subtraction and multiplication.

- Cultural, Geography and Science resources cultivate an awareness of the world around us, the beauty within and an understanding of how it all works.
